Whose Is It, Anyway?

When 4T logged onto their blogs today, something very alarming and strange had happened.
Their content was there, but someone else’s name was on the title. Someone had claimed their own work as their own!

‘But I wrote that!’ Lucas exclaimed

‘I don’t know what’s going on,’ Esther said confused.

4T were outraged! But unfortunately this happens on the internet more often than you think. People copying other people’s work or images and pasting them into their own projects. That’s not fair!

As we begin our research for our extreme weather event project, this led to a very important discussion about why it is so important to give credit to someone else’s work when you have borrowed a picture or used their website or book to assist you in your research.

What is plagiarism?
Why is it important to credit the work that you use?
How do you credit someone else’s work?

    Hey 4T,
I think that if you use someone else’s work you must credit them because they made it and you did not. What do you think about plagiarism?

    Me, Outraged!
    Hi 4T,
Plagiarism is if you copy someone else’s work without giving them credit. If you plagiarise, you don’t learn anything and the person who made it gets angry. It’s hitting 2 birds with one stone in a bad way. I forgive Miss Tirtilas for switching me and Esther’s Blog 😡.

If you copy someone’s work and give it to someone else, is that plagiarism?

    Bye for now 4T,
    Lucas

    Hi 4T,
I think Well it’s not fair for the person who created the work and your getting yourself into trouble. If the person who wrote the book or paragraph you can use it but put in your own words and then in the end write who you got it from because it’s the write thing to do.
When was one of the times that you’ve use a book or the internet for work and did you write the name at the end or not ?

Hi 4T, everyone was so confused when sneeky Miss T changed blogs of Esther and Lucas. I think plagiarism is bad because someone could put in so much time and effort and then the old copy and paste trick comes in hand. But to credit someone’s work you always should congratulate them or at least write a bibliography. Bye 4T, Tilly

    Hello 4T,
I that plagiarism is when you copy someone’s work exactly or 60%-99%, without giving them any credit.
The person you plagiarise will feel bad, and you won’t be learning anything because you are just copying someone else’s work. You aren’t thinking for yourself a all.
You can still use someone’s information, but not exactly, and you have to put a bibliography/citation. Here’s an example:
Name: Steele, C. Book title: ‘Volcanos’. Time: 2000
If it’s a websit or picture, put a URL!
What is a time you felt someone plagiarised or copied something that you worked hard on?
    Bye, Joanna

    Hi 4T,
I think plagiarism is very bad because you are using other people’s work and saying that you created it. It is important not to plagiarise because it is cheating and you are not learning anything. Even if you put it in your own handwriting, it is still plagiarism.

Why do think plagiarising is bad?

    Hi everyone,
Plagiarism is when you or someone else has copied your or their work and claimed it as their own without giving credit to the original author. It is important to not plagiarise because someone has put a lot of effort into that piece and you choose to do no work and copy them.

    Hi 4T,
I think it’s inoortant not to plagiarise because:
if you plagiarise you are copying someone else’s work with no effort. It’s also important because someone has made this work and they wouldn’t be very happy if you just copied it.
Some ways you can credit someone else’s work if your going to use it as an reference is telling them that you like their work and you want to use it, pitting a citation on your project where you used their work or putting a URL on it.
When have you had ever had to use the internet for a project and how did you show it was their work.

    Hello 4T.
Do not plagiarism because if you do, you did something wrong and don’t do it again.

    Sup 4T,
Plaigirisim is when you copy someone elses work. It is also important to credit your work because if you don’t then it is plagiarising. You can also credit someone else’s work by saying we’re it came from.
    Have you ever plagiarised?

    Hi 4T,
Plagiarism is when you copy someone else’s work and do not acknowledge them or show they wrote the article or copy someone’s work and say you wrote the artical.

    Hello 4T
I think that plagiarism is really rude because you are basically claiming someone’s work as yours and and it is like you don’t have any bibliography.

    Hi 4T
    1. Plagiarism is copying someone’s work and not giving them credit.
    2. Because it’s cheating
    3. By writing their name and the name of the site or the book

    Hi 4T,
It’s really sad if someone actually plagiarised one of our blog and act that they did it.

Plagiarism means when you copy something on the internet, a photo, video and book then don’t say that you got it from another persons book or website.

It’s important to show credit or bibliography so people know that you used it and the person you made the book or website that you appreciate there work.

You can credit someone’s work by making a bibliography which is showing the book or website that you used to make it.

Well how would you feel if someone plagiarised your work and said that they did it there self but bye for now.

    From Morgan.

    Hi, 4T
Plagiarism is dangerous because say for example if you gave your Address someone could find you.
    How did this happen?

    Hi 4T,
Plagiarism is when you copy someone else’s work and say it was your own. It is important that you credit the work that you use because otherwise you will plagiarise them. To credit someone’s work you just write that persons name.
